THE ROLE
The Donor Engagement Manager plays a key role in the department by supporting strategic project management and major gifts portfolio moves management and strategies related to all parts of the giving cycle. This is a great opportunity for pro-active self-starters interested in building a culture of giving by adding structure, strategy, and support to a growing major gifts and legacy giving team. This position reports to the Director of Major Gifts and Legacy Giving and works closely with the entire membership and development team.
This role is essential for supporting data-driven fundraising strategies, maintaining donor relationships, and optimizing WQED’s overall fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented individual who works well independently as well as collaboratively while bringing excellent communication and problem-solving skills to this role. This is a hybrid role that’s expected to commute to and contribute from WQED’s offices in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh 3 days per week. The annual compensation band for this full-time position is $50,000 to $62,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as main point of contact for member services call center. Ensure member inquiries are addressed in a timely manner. Provide training materials, business rules updates, pledge schedules, premiums inventory and other materials so call center representatives are knowledgeable and able to address a range of member needs.
- Manage all aspects of major donor solicitations and acknowledgments, mail, and email.
- In collaboration with the Director of Major Gifts and Director of Development Operations, develop strategies and timelines for upgrade, recapture, sustainer conversion, and other special campaigns. Ensure campaigns are executed.
- Contribute to the creation of major donor and legacy giving annual plans. Use project management tools to ensure efforts are on track and adhere to timelines. Serve as the department’s point of contact with other internal stakeholders who contribute to projects.
- In coordination with major gifts officers, draft donor briefings, formal proposals, impact reports and gift agreements, lead review and approval process.
- Prepare event bios and ensure attendance is accurately recorded in CRM.
- Provide strategic support for portfolio moves management to gift officers.
- Coordinate major donor and legacy giving special opportunities, experiences, benefits and other incentives to recognize, engage, and steward.
- Work with finance department and financial partners on gift reconciliation as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- 5-7 years of fundraising experience
- 2+ years of experience working with donor databases in a nonprofit setting (experience with ROI, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or other CRM tools preferred).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present concepts and ideas effectively in both verbal and written formats. Adapts communication style to suit different audiences' needs.
- Efficient and flexible, with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and follow through to execute on project ideas. Identifies and addresses issues proactively, taking decisive action to implement changes that benefit the team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Must have the ability to be entrepreneurial, multi-task, problem solve, and work proactively as a team player.
- Interest in public media a plus.
- Candidates must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
